The Senior Director, Corporate Communications leads internal and external communications that drive Encore Capital Group’s global corporate reputation, in alignment with business goals and the company’s mission, vision and values. They are accountable for developing and managing a global corporate communications strategy, as well as owning delivery channels (e.g., social media, intranet, external website.)  They also lead the execution and measurement of programs spanning stakeholder and media relations, employee communications, corporate reputation and brand positioning, risk mitigation, as well as support functional and executive communications for the CEO and members of the executive leadership team. Additionally, this position leads Encore’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and framework.

In addition to strong experience in the financial services industry, this individual is a proven leader with a high level of comfort interacting, persuading, and building trust with key internal and external stakeholders. They must be capable of understanding and ensuring alignment with Encore’s business goals and corporate values, advocating on behalf of the company, and acting as a trusted advisor and business partner to leaders across the enterprise. Further, they are a strategic thinker with a desire to drive corporate culture, engage employees and mobilize internal and external partners to advocate for the company. This individual leads an international corporate communications team spanning the U.S., Europe, India, and Costa Rica. This role reports to the SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer at Encore.


Responsibilities

  • Create and manage long-term strategic communication plans covering external needs, internal partnerships, executive support, and incident management.
  • Maintain relationships with key reporters and media agencies, proactively identify media opportunities, and organize public relations events.
  • Management of approximately 10 direct and indirect reports reporting to the role globally.
  • Manage or co-manage outside agencies and vendors to ensure the production of creative, high-quality, and cost-effective communication solutions.
  • Provide broad leadership for the company's online footprint; maintain and enhance the content, design, and style elements of our websites; deepen our social media presence.
  • Provide communication support to various business departments, including investor relations; partner with Human Resources to align employee communications and messaging with corporate strategy and business objectives .
  • Provide support to senior leaders in drafting departmental communications and ensuring that messaging is consistent across the business.
  • Coordinate the various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives across the company and ensure that external messaging is consistent with our brand positioning and corporate values.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Education
Required: Bachelor Degree in Political Science, Government, Communications or related field.
Preferred: Master or Advanced Degree in Journalism, English or related field of study.

Experience
Required: 10+ years of experience as communications or public relations professional in a corporate or agency setting.
Preferred: 15+ years of experience as communications or public relations professional in a corporate or agency setting.

Starting Compensation

Annual Salary: $201,400.00 - $261,600.00 (Amount based on office location, relevant experience, skills, and competencies)
